MASTERCLASS for OPERA SINGERS
～A Journey through the forms of Belcanto～

The Masterclasses of Le Muse offer an original combination of studies to harmonize the technical-vocal study with the aesthetic, historical and executive analysis.
Each lyrical piece is a universe of meanings that requires the singer’s competence and ownership: the repertoires must be approached with awareness, according to a tradition that lasts for centuries.
The Masterclass is held, therefore, by at least two teachers: one of history and musical aesthetics and one of singing and scenic expression. All this, of course, with the support of an expert accompanist on the piano and an interpreter.
To these are added, where technically possible, a director and a Korrepetitor.
Moreover, outside the course hours, we create opportunities for meetings and exchanges (dinners, visits to monuments, palaces or theatres) that strengthen the team spirit and open new perspectives on the Italian cultural heritage.
In the morning, the Masterclass programme includes in-depth sessions on the lyrical text with analysis of the score in its poetic-musical, historical and stylistic forms. Through careful work on pronunciation, accentuation and metrics of the text, the close bond that always combines poetry and sound in the masterpieces of Belcanto is exalted.
The afternoon is dedicated to the technical and expressive study of the works, under the guidance of a famous teacher, a leading name of international opera. All the concrete aspects (emission, resonances, dynamics, phrasing, etc.) are particularly taken care of. Each detail of the performance acquires value as a rich manifestation of style and taste.

In the Masterclasses involving a director and a Korrepetitor, the appropriate scenic realization of the roles is experienced. The accurate work on gestures, mimics and movements makes each student a complete theatrical Character in action.
Thus, the students undertake a comprehensive study of vocal technique, pronunciation, musical analysis and expressive acting.
The deep awareness of styles, combined with technical ability, becomes true Interpretation.
The great lyrical tradition is known in its most integral and authoritative form: a great Journey through the forms of Belcanto.
